On the eve of the general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country faces persistent challenges related to ethnic divisions inherited from the war and electoral fraud, reports RFI on Thursday.
For 31 years, each election has raised questions about the country’s ability to overcome these fractures, often exploited by nationalist parties. However, in the strongholds of the three constituent peoples, there is a gradual weakening of extremists, alongside a decline in clientelism and corruption.
Despite these developments, the struggle for effective electoral transparency remains ongoing, highlighting the fragility of the democratic process in this country marked by its recent history.
