EU Considers Strengthening Border Security Following Ceuta Migration Crisis

For the first time since the migration crisis in Ceuta at the end of July, the European Union’s interior ministers met in person on Thursday, October 1, in Luxembourg, reports RFI.

During this meeting, several countries expressed their desire to strengthen surveillance of the EU’s external borders. They discussed measures that could represent a significant security tightening, aimed at better controlling migration flows and preventing new massive influxes like the one observed in Ceuta, where 70,000 migrants arrived from Morocco.
