On October 20, 2026, the European Commission, together with the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, unveiled a new strategy for the Arctic.
This strategy establishes a renewed framework for political cooperation with like-minded partners, emphasizing four key priorities: strengthening security and resilience in the region, addressing the challenges posed by climate change, promoting prosperity, and creating opportunities for Arctic populations and communities.
By placing people, security, climate, and prosperity at the core of this approach, the European Union reaffirms its commitment to closely cooperate with its partners to tackle the complex issues related to this strategic and fragile region.
