The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has officially certified the Boeing 737-10, the largest model in the 737 MAX family, Boeing announced on October 20, 2026. This certification allows Boeing to begin deliveries of this aircraft in the coming months.
The 737-10 completes the 737 MAX lineup, known as the most efficient and flexible in the single-aisle aircraft segment. This model stands out with a capacity to accommodate up to 230 passengers in maximum configuration, offering the best seat economics in its category. It also features a superior range of 365 nautical miles compared to its competitors, without requiring auxiliary fuel tanks.
In terms of safety, the 737-10 introduces improvements, including an enhanced angle of attack system that will now be standard across the entire 737 MAX range. This certification is the first to fully comply with the 2020 US Aircraft Certification, Safety and Accountability Act (ACSAA), which mandates strengthened documentation of safety assessments and human factors.
The certification program was rigorous, including nearly 1,000 test flights, over 2,000 total flight hours, 1,000 hours of ground testing, thousands of pages of documentation, and numerous formal meetings with the FAA. More than 30 customers worldwide have already ordered this model, totaling 1,555 aircraft, representing over 30% of the current 737 MAX program backlog.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, stated that this certification paves the way for an aircraft that will set a new standard in commercial aviation, offering greater capacity, increased range, and unmatched seat economics, thereby creating more value for airlines worldwide.
