On Friday, September 25, during the first day of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to France, President Emmanuel Macron delivered a speech at the Élysée Palace.
He notably stated that “French secularism” is “in no way a denial of religion.” The president expressed his wish that the pope might encounter “a France always seeking the universal, an emancipated, diverse, and united France.”
