Paris and Berlin Propose Rapid EU Trade Response Mechanism

France and Germany have proposed a new legal instrument enabling the European Union to respond rapidly to trade wars or measures such as dumping that could economically harm the bloc.

According to Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz, this proposal is not a direct response to the actions of any particular country, but it comes just days before Ursula von der Leyen’s visit to China, where trade issues are expected to be discussed.
