A video showing a 26-year-old street paramedic violently beaten by police in Paris has widely circulated on social media, accompanied by false claims that he died from his injuries.
However, the paramedic confirmed to FRANCE 24 that he is indeed alive, thus denying the rumors that spread online.
This confusion originated from another incident that occurred the same day in the same area: a man died of cardiac arrest, which led some internet users to conflate the two events and spread incorrect information.
Vedika Bahl, in her segment Truth or Fake, explains how this misunderstanding fueled the rumor of the paramedic’s death.
