Pope Leo XIV began a four-day visit to France on Friday, under tight security. His first stop was Paris, where he was welcomed by Emmanuel Macron.
The pontiff will then travel to Lourdes and Metz. The visit includes several major religious celebrations.
Several sensitive issues are central to this visit, notably sexual violence within the Church, challenges related to artificial intelligence, and the question of peace in Europe.
