Senatorial Elections: Gabrielle Cathala (LFI) Criticizes Senate as Unrepresentative

B-Empire Magazine

Following the senatorial elections, Gabrielle Cathala, LFI deputy for Val-d’Oise, hailed the entry of the Insoumis into the Luxembourg Palace as an unexpected victory. “We defied all predictions,” she stated.

However, she lamented the left’s inability to reach agreements and highlighted the “very worrying” rise of the Rassemblement national, which she considered predictable.

More broadly, Gabrielle Cathala criticized the Senate’s representativeness, calling it an “outdated institution that does not represent the population.” She notably deplored that Les Républicains, who did not reach 5% in the presidential election, remain the main political force in the Senate.
