Ulrich N’Toyo, a director born in Pointe-Noire, Congo-Brazzaville, is presenting his play “The Silence of Taboos” at the Les Zébrures festival in Limoges.
This theatrical creation offers a courageous journey into the history of slavery, enriched by an extensive and original collection of personal stories gathered in Guyana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Congo, and Normandy.
While the play can sometimes be challenging to interpret or appear too direct, it stands out for its determination to break the chains of the past and to bring the traces of slavery to life in a new way.
Ulrich N’Toyo, who has been living in France since 2007, remains connected to his roots and uses theater to give voice to stories that have often remained silent.
