Jean-Pierre Lacroix, head of UN peacekeeping operations, stated in an interview with France 24 that the United States continues to be “a very significant partner” despite their $3 billion debt to UN peacekeeping operations.
He recalled that the UN had to reduce its operational capacity by about 25%, but defended peacekeeping missions, which represent only 0.2% of global military expenditures, emphasizing that “peacekeeping is really a good deal.”
