UN Security Council Discusses Rising Tensions in West Bank and Deadlock on Gaza Peace Plan

The UN Security Council convened Monday morning to address the tense situation in the Middle East, marked by two concerning fronts.

In the West Bank, settler violence and settlement expansion raise concerns about the viability of a two-state solution, according to UN News.

In Gaza, the peace plan, in place for a year, is at a standstill. Remaining phases, notably the disarmament of Hamas and the complete Israeli withdrawal, have not been implemented, while civilian suffering continues.

The legality of the settlements, considered illegal under international law, remains a major point of contention.
