The German automotive group Volkswagen, Europe’s leader, is going through a difficult period with the announcement of a new restructuring plan this summer, following the one in December 2024.
This new plan threatens 50,000 jobs worldwide, a direct consequence of increased competition from Chinese manufacturers, tariffs imposed by the United States, and a sluggish European market.
The Zwickau plant, located in Saxony and regarded as a model in e-mobility, now faces an uncertain future amid this reorganization.
