Andrei Dmitrievich Sakharov, born on May 21, 1921, in Moscow, was a Soviet physicist and human rights activist. He is best known for his role in the development of the Soviet hydrogen bomb, but he later dedicated his life to advocating for human rights and promoting disarmament. In 1975, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his struggle for human rights in the Soviet Union and for advocating cooperation among all nations. Sakharov passed away on December 14, 1989.
