Bernardo Alberto Houssay, born on April 10, 1887, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was a prominent Argentine physiologist. He is best known for his research on the role of the anterior pituitary hormone in sugar metabolism. In 1947, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his significant discoveries in this field. Houssay also contributed to the founding of the National Academy of Sciences of Buenos Aires. He passed away on September 21, 1971.
