Charles Gates Dawes, born on August 27, 1865, in Marietta, Ohio, was an American politician and financier. He is best known for his crucial role in the formulation of the Dawes Plan, aimed at stabilizing the German economy after World War I. In 1925, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in this regard. Dawes also served as Vice President of the United States from 1925 to 1929. He passed away on April 23, 1951.
