Ernest Rutherford, born on August 30, 1871, in Nelson, New Zealand, was a renowned physicist and chemist. He is best known for his work on radioactivity and the structure of the atom. In 1908, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his investigations into the disintegration of elements and the chemistry of radioactive substances. Rutherford is often regarded as the father of nuclear physics. He passed away on October 19, 1937.
