George Catlett Marshall

George Catlett Marshall, born on December 31, 1880, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, was an American military leader and statesman. He served as Chief of Staff of the United States Army during World War II. In 1953, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for proposing and supervising the economic recovery plan for Europe, known as the Marshall Plan. Marshall is also recognized for his role in the establishment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). He passed away on October 16, 1959.
