Melvin Schwartz, born on November 2, 1932, in New York, was an American physicist known for his significant contributions to particle physics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1988 for the neutrino beam method and the demonstration of the doublet structure of leptons through the discovery of the muon neutrino. Schwartz was also a pioneer in the study of subatomic particle interactions. He passed away on August 28, 2006.
