Richard E. Taylor, born on November 2, 1929, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, was a renowned Canadian physicist. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1990 for his pioneering investigations concerning deep inelastic scattering of electrons on protons and bound neutrons. These studies were of essential importance for the development of the quark model in particle physics. Taylor passed away on February 22, 2018.
