Saul Bellow, born on June 10, 1915, in Lachine, Quebec, Canada, was a Canadian-American writer renowned for his contributions to contemporary literature. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1976 for his human understanding and subtle analysis of contemporary culture, which are combined in his work. Bellow is often regarded as one of the greatest American novelists of the 20th century. He passed away on April 5, 2005.
