Severo Ochoa, born on September 24, 1905, in Luarca, Spain, was a renowned biologist and biochemist. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1959 for his discovery of the mechanisms in the biological synthesis of ribonucleic acid (RNA) and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Ochoa dedicated his career to studying the fundamental molecular processes of life. He passed away on November 1, 1993.
