Willard S. Boyle, born on August 19, 1924, in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, was a Canadian physicist known for his significant contributions to electronics. He is best known for the invention of the imaging semiconductor circuit, the CCD sensor, which revolutionized digital image capture. In 2009, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for this innovation. Boyle passed away on May 7, 2011.
