In Cameroon, political parties are actively preparing for the hypothetical legislative and municipal elections scheduled for early 2027, reports RFI on Thursday, September 19, 2026.

For several months, they have been holding high-level strategic meetings, establishing internal mechanisms to select their activist candidates, training their cadres, and initiating negotiations to form alliances.

However, the actual organization of these elections is not guaranteed due to a possible new extension of the mandates of deputies and municipal councilors elected in 2020, which keeps the political scene in a state of “pre-electoral alertness.”
