In an interview with France 24, Coumba Bâ, minister-adviser to Mauritanian President Mohammed Ould Ghazouani and candidate for secretary-general of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), emphasized that bringing Sahel countries back into the organization is an “absolute priority.”

She highlighted her “unifying stance” and stated that the Francophonie must remain true to its founding values, notably the promotion of democracy, the rule of law, and citizens’ freedoms.

Coumba Bâ added that the OIF must “not close the door to anyone” and should assist countries in effectively overcoming situations of unconstitutionality and democratic breakdowns.
