The military junta in power in Guinea-Bissau announced on Thursday, October 1, that the necessary security conditions to guarantee the return of former president Umaro Sissoko Embaló, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, are not met.
This statement follows Embaló’s announcement three days earlier of his candidacy for the December 6 presidential election and his intention to return to the country.
