Isack Hadjar marked his return to Formula 1 with a remarkable performance at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where he finished third, delivering a well-deserved podium for Red Bull.
Absent for six weeks due to a wrist injury sustained during training in the summer break, Hadjar resumed competition in Baku after receiving medical clearance. He improved steadily throughout practice sessions, qualified fourth, then gained two positions during the race to finish on the podium.
This is his third F1 podium, but the first he considers earned solely through his own performance, without benefiting from retirements or penalties affecting other drivers, as had been the case previously at the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix and Monaco earlier this year.
“I’m happy. These six weeks felt very long, it was like I hadn’t had fun in a long time,” Hadjar said after the race. “I took things step by step on this circuit where a mistake can be costly. This podium achieved through pure speed really delights me.”
His injured wrist held up well during the 51 laps, giving him confidence for the busy remainder of the season. “Even though it’s a bit numb, I’m satisfied and eager to race again, especially at Sepang,” he added.
