The Museum of Confluences in Lyon is presenting the exhibition “In Mali, When Animals Dance,” an immersion into the ancestral Sogo Bō theater from central-west Mali.

This tradition, inscribed on UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage list since 2014, is showcased through 110 masks, puppets, and instruments from the collection of Sonia and Albert Loeb, of which around one hundred have been donated to the museum.

The exhibition invites visitors on an artistic and memorial journey along the banks of the Niger River, blending art, music, and memory around a threatened ancestral popular theater.
