Meryem Koufi and Mehdi Haddab present a new interpretation of the traditional nouba from the Algiers School with their album Nuba Nova II, announced Thursday by RFI.

This musical project follows their first album Nuba Nova released in 2021, which was already the result of a collaboration between Mehdi Haddab and violinist Hamdi Benani.

In this new work, the artists delve into the poetry of the nouba by blending electric oud, kouitra, and vocals, creating a mystical sound that oscillates between the sacred and the profane, spirituality and sensuality.
