According to a report published Monday by NewsGuard, an American expert on disinformation, the number of fake contents impersonating reliable media has increased by 850% in one year.
Among the 15 most imitated media outlets in Russian disinformation operations, eight are French, notably Libération, BFM TV, and France 24.
Experts attribute this explosion of fake news to Russia, which is believed to be seeking to undermine public trust and deceive artificial intelligence tools.
