Senegal produced more than 10 tonnes of gold in 2025, a significant increase driven by new mines, according to RFI.
While the country remains a modest producer compared to its neighbors Mali and Burkina Faso, its gold sector shows notable growth. In 2026, production is expected to reach 16 tonnes, supported by three active mines and several new sites under development.
Gold thus remains Senegal’s primary mineral resource, benefiting from the bullish trend in the global price of the precious metal.
