Sidya Touré, political opposition leader and former Guinean Prime Minister, passed away in Paris on September 25.

His family has decided to bury him in Côte d’Ivoire, the country where he spent the majority of his administrative career and where he had lived in exile for nearly five years.

A member of his party, which was dissolved last March, explained that burial in Guinea, his native country, was “unthinkable” due to the humiliations he endured from the Guinean authorities.

The arrival of Sidya Touré’s body in Abidjan is scheduled for Friday, October 2.
