Tiriane Balbine Noah was elected president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), one of the main opposition parties in Cameroon, during a convention held on Saturday, October 17.
Former interim vice-president, she was the sole candidate and was endorsed by the militants gathered for the occasion, according to France 24’s correspondent in Yaoundé, Marcel Amoko.
The new president faces significant challenges, notably preparing for the upcoming legislative and municipal elections, which are expected to be crucial for the party and the Cameroonian opposition in general.
