A major new international study has revealed a significant increase in cases of several types of cancer among young people in England, the United States, and the Netherlands.
In England, the number of people under 50 diagnosed with prostate cancer has quadrupled since 2001, according to data reported by France 24.
Researchers do not know precisely why this increase is so pronounced, but they suggest probable causes include rising obesity rates, poor diet, and lack of physical activity.
Jon Shelton, head of cancer intelligence at Cancer Research UK, was interviewed about this phenomenon by France 24.
