The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) issued a warning on Thursday about a rapidly growing trafficking of medical products in Central Africa. According to a report published in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Cemac Commission, more than 250 tons of illicit medical products were seized between 2020 and 2025 in member countries of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (Cemac).

This trafficking involves three main categories of products, including counterfeit medicines and stolen goods, which represent a major threat to public health, development, and security in the region, the UNODC emphasizes.
