Lando Norris was forced to retire during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after a collision with Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly, both Alpine drivers, according to official Formula 1 reports.
The weekend in Baku had already been challenging for Norris, who lost ground early in qualifying. During the race, after a strong start, he was overtaken by several competitors before becoming involved in an incident at the Safety Car restart.
Franco Colapinto, attempting to navigate turn 1, misjudged his braking, colliding with Pierre Gasly and then touching Norris, causing all three drivers to retire. Colapinto apologized to his teammate and the Alpine team, acknowledging a significant error that cost the team valuable points.
Norris expressed his frustration, lamenting his lack of straight-line speed and criticizing certain drivers he believes do not belong in Formula 1. This mishap ended his streak of eight consecutive points finishes and complicates his championship ambitions.
