Esteban Ocon confirmed on Wednesday, during the media day of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, that he is “definitely a free agent for next year” in Formula 1, as his future with Haas remains uncertain.

The French driver indicated that discussions are still ongoing with the Haas team, but there are also other options behind the scenes, beyond his control, to secure his place on the grid in 2027.

“I am focused on the track, trying to give my best and achieve the results this team deserves,” he added.

Ocon, aged 30 and a Formula 1 driver for ten years, won the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix and has several podium finishes. He stated he does not intend to leave Formula 1, affirming he still has much to contribute to the sport.

His Haas teammate, Ollie Bearman, who has scored 18 points this season, has not yet been confirmed for 2027 but remains confident about his future with the team.
