After the attempted hijacking of a Flydubai flight between Dubai and Tel Aviv, several fake videos have been circulating on social media. Among them, a video purportedly broadcast by the BBC wrongly accuses an Indian passenger of causing the incident and links him to the injured pilot, Smit Machchhar.
This video is actually a deepfake generated by artificial intelligence, combining manipulated images and sounds. The BBC has never aired this report, its services deny.
Furthermore, a second video has been misinterpreted: it was filmed in Dubai and not at the actual location of the incident, contributing to misinformation surrounding the event.
These elements were verified by Vedika Bahl on the program Truth or Fake, which exposes the circulation of manipulated content related to this incident.
