Apple announced on September 29 the release of version 2.4 of Final Cut Camera, its professional filming app for iPhone, featuring a complete redesign and new functionalities with iOS 27.

This major update notably introduces support for variable aperture on the iPhone 18 Pro, equipped with the new Fusion Main sensor, the most advanced ever designed by Apple. Users can now precisely adjust the aperture or choose between shutter priority and aperture priority modes to capture high-quality videos.

Final Cut Camera also simplifies access to popular settings such as shutter angle, ISO, and white balance, with customizable overlays like false color and saturation indicators for optimal exposure. A new recording indicator light is added, and a double tap clears the viewfinder to better focus on shooting.

The update also unlocks Cinematic mode effects for standard videos, including those recorded in ProRes and Apple Log, allowing adjustment of focus points and depth of field directly within Final Cut Pro.

Additionally, the app supports professional video scopes, clean SDI output via an HDMI-SDI converter for broadcast-quality streaming, and genlock offset adjustment to synchronize footage with other cameras.

Creators can now precisely monitor their videos using tools like the RGB Parade and histogram, facilitating control over color balance and exposure.
