Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned the UN General Assembly on Thursday of a serious threat to the survival of his people. In a prerecorded speech from Ramallah, he stated that Israeli policies no longer merely jeopardize the prospect of a two-state solution but endanger the “life and existence” of the Palestinians themselves.
This intervention comes as the United States has denied Mahmoud Abbas and other senior Palestinian officials visas to attend the General Assembly for the second consecutive year, forcing him to speak remotely.
Mahmoud Abbas emphasized that the Palestinian people are experiencing “one of the most dangerous periods in their history,” underscoring the severity of the current situation in light of Israeli policies.
