The NASA has released satellite images showing the extent of flooding in Thailand during late September and early October 2026. These floods were caused by persistent rains and intense showers linked to a low-pressure system that remained over the region for several days.

The images taken by Landsat satellites notably show Prachin Buri province, where vast agricultural and aquaculture areas were submerged by water. The Bang Pakong River and its surroundings were extensively flooded, as shown by comparisons with the same period in 2025.

According to NASA, this situation was fueled by moisture and energy from the nearby Gulf of Thailand, which intensified the precipitation. Approximately 100 kilometers west, Bangkok received nearly 300 millimeters of rain within 48 hours, according to press reports.
