Weeks ahead of the early legislative elections scheduled for November 29 in Spain, the socialist government of Pedro Sánchez approved on Tuesday, October 20, a new series of social measures aimed at addressing social concerns.

Despite these announcements, the protest movement, which emerged at the end of September following the eviction and subsequent tragic death of an octogenarian woman, shows no signs of weakening. In Madrid, demonstrators continue to occupy the Puerta del Sol, a symbolic location, to demand decent housing.

This mobilization reflects a persistent social protest seeking to have its demands heard ahead of the early legislative elections. The ‘Indignados’ movement highlights the housing difficulties in Spain, a central issue in the current political debate.
