The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) rebels have left Mekelle, the regional capital located in northern Ethiopia, according to a local journalist and residents on Saturday.

Since September 23, the TPLF has been engaged in fighting against federal forces and pro-government militias, while also launching attacks in neighboring states. This escalation has revived fears of a widespread civil conflict similar to the one that affected the country between 2020 and 2022.
