Dozens of US military personnel and anti-drug agents participated in an operation in Samborondon, on the outskirts of Guayaquil, targeting members of the Mexican Jalisco New Generation cartel, according to Ecuadorian authorities.

This intervention follows Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa’s call earlier this week at the United Nations General Assembly, where he emphasized that the fight against transnational enemies, such as drug cartels, cannot be won by a single country alone.

Within hours, the theory expressed by the head of state was put into practice with this joint operation, marking a strengthening of international cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking in Ecuador.
