Since September 2025, news sites in France have experienced a significant decline in their audience, according to a report published Thursday, October 8, by the Alliance for Press and Media Figures (ACPM).

On average, these sites have lost nearly 22% of their visitors. This drop is notably linked to the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and the impact of Google and its AI Overviews service, which are changing how people access information.

Among notable examples, the website of the daily newspaper Le Parisien saw its visits fall by more than 43%, while Franceinfo lost a third of its audience.

This trend highlights the challenges traditional media face in a context where AI is profoundly transforming news consumption behaviors.
