Turkey revoked the license of the Iranian bank Mellat on Saturday, September 19, a semi-private entity targeted by Western sanctions for several years, reports RFI.

This decision is part of a series of recent measures taken by Ankara against Iranian interests, amid growing U.S. pressure.

It also coincides with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s trip to the United States, where he is scheduled to attend the United Nations General Assembly next week.
