In India, the Middle East war and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have already complicated trade exchanges. Added to this are the strengthened US sanctions at the end of September against Russia, which also target all countries trading with Moscow.
Despite these measures, India has continued to import Russian oil. According to Olivier Da Lage, an India specialist and former RFI journalist, the country is now seeking to build new trade routes, notably corridors, to diversify its exchanges and circumvent constraints related to sanctions and geopolitical tensions.
This strategy aims to secure energy supplies and limit the impact of sanctions on Indian transport and trade.
