Jakarta, the Indonesian capital frequently ranked among the world’s most polluted cities, now holds a “car free day” every Sunday morning.
From 6 AM to 10 AM, parts of the city’s major roads are closed to motorized traffic. This initiative aims to reduce the chronic air pollution affecting the metropolitan area.
During this time, pedestrians, runners, and families can occupy Jakarta’s city center, which is usually overwhelmed by traffic jams and pollution.
