More than 140,000 people are registered to participate in the Socialist Party’s social-democratic primary, with the first round taking place Friday and Saturday, according to France 24.

The main issue at stake in this vote is to determine the Socialist Party’s relationship with La France insoumise (LFI). Two candidates, including the favorite Raphaël Glucksmann, are firmly opposed to an alliance with LFI.

In contrast, the three other candidates, among them the Socialist Party’s First Secretary Olivier Faure, are in favor of such an alliance.
