On the occasion of World Heart Day, the Cardiology Institute of Abidjan is organizing free screenings to raise public awareness about cardiovascular diseases, which are particularly widespread in Côte d’Ivoire, France 24 reported on Thursday.
Côte d’Ivoire is indeed significantly affected by these conditions, with more than 35% of the adult population suffering from hypertension, a major risk factor. A large proportion of those affected are unaware of their hypertensive status, complicating prevention and treatment efforts.
This initiative also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Cardiology Institute of Abidjan, which plays a key role in the fight against cardiovascular diseases in the country.
